One of the priorities in the government’s Tertiary Education Strategy is to encourage learners to continue their training to gain higher qualifications.  To support this aim, Competenz offers three scholarships each year.

  • The four Competenz Engineering Scholarships (for which 2015 applications have now closed) encourage learners to study towards the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 5 or a New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP) Level 6.
  • The Competenz Plastics Scholarship encourages learning in the National Diploma in Plastics Processing Technology Level 5. Applications close at 4pm on Friday 29 May 2015.
  • The Competenz Print Scholarship encourages learning in the National Diploma in Print Management Level 5.

In all cases, learners studying towards these qualifications gain advanced technical skills (‘how to do the business’), together with a complementary range of business skills (‘how to run the business’).
