Competenz is pleased to launch a new forestry planting ‘micro-credential’ qualification in time for the 2019 planting season.

A recently established FICA Silviculture Action Group identified the lack of recognition and pathways for seasonal planting workers as a major issue contributing to a skills’ shortage in the sector. The current workforce needs to double to meet the requirements of the One Billion Trees Programme, yet there is currently no recognised programme for workers engaged in the planting season who want to continue with a career in the forestry industry.

Consisting of just a single unit standard, the micro-credential is designed for seasonal workers, workers on temporary visas, and those new to planting to ensure they receive recognition for their skills and knowledge.

To find out more about the forestry planting micro-credential phone 0800 526 1800.
