Butchery apprentices who have entered, or are considering signing up for the Competenz Butcher Apprentice of the Year competition, will be interested in a series of workshops running nationwide in May.
The workshops, which include practical demonstrations from award-winning butchers, will give contestants ideas and inspiration to help them plan and prepare for the regional and national competitions which run from July through September.

About the Competenz Butcher Apprentice of the Year competition
This competition is part of an annual event which includes the Alto Young Butcher competition. It is a great opportunity for New Zealand’s apprentice butchers to hone their skills and test themselves against others in the industry.
The Competenz Butcher Apprentice of the Year competition is open to people who are working towards a butchery apprenticeship. The Alto Young Butcher competition is open to qualified butchers under 30 years of age.
The regional competitions take place in June and July and the national final in September.
