Navigating ITO accountabilities

As an Industry Training Organisation (ITO), two-thirds of our funding comes from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) with employer contributions making up the remainder. Competenz is held to a high level of accountability – having to achieve specific targets and outcomes for employers and learners.

These are some of the requirements we have to meet:

Credit completion

We need to monitor the credits achieved by learners to track their progress towards programme completion.

Active database

We have to maintain an active database threshold. This represents the number of learners who are eligible for funding. A learner must achieve at least 10 credits in the calendar year to qualify as active. And, as an organisation, we need to ensure that at least 80 percent of our learners are active.

Duration

We need to ensure that learners complete their qualifications within the designated time. TEC requires that no more than 20 percent of our learners go over the duration of the programme they’re enrolled in.
